Twenty-five students of the Bixby High School Choir attended a competition in San Antonio over spring break.  They performed against other choirs from Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas,  Their performance of the upcoming OSSAA State Choir Contest pieces earned them a superior rating from each judge.  The judges then elected the BHS Choir to receive the Adjudicator’s Award for the Outstanding Choral Group.  These awards are indicative of the amount of work and talent the students put into this competition.

The choir received these awards at an Awards Ceremony attended by bands, choirs, orchestras, jazz bands, show choirs and drill teams.  While the BHS Choir took first place in their division, the most coveted award of the evening was also presented to the BHS Choir.  The Spirit of San Antonio Award was presented to the school who best represents its community and School at the 2011 San Antonio Heritage Music Festival.  This award represents the character and fine sportsmanship of the BHS Choir students.  They were cordial to students and directors from other schools, openly accepted praise and critique from the festival judges and directors.  This is a testament to the students and their parents.
